HOW IT STARTED
- The Future’s commission extends the work of the previous Youth Commission (2016 – 2025) with the acknowledgement that the organisation and the Commission’s purpose and outlook has changed fundamentally.
- With the stepping down of Youth Commission President Anastasia Mashtakova (Russia); Active members of the Youth commission Mareike and Alex met in person in Chuncheon for the first time, despite working together for the past three years online.
- Whilst co-facilitating Fishing Fresh and other networking events at the 2025 Congress in Chuncheon, discussions were being had as to how the Youth commission could move forward.
- The Futures Commission acknowledges that the previous Youth commission was not made up of Youth members, but in fact members in their late 20s and 30s who are mid-career artists and professionals, but who continually felt that the labelling of the commission as “youth” had negative impacts on key projects and outcomes and lacked respect from other factions of the organisation
