The International Prize Michael Meschke for Preservation and Renewal of Puppetry Arts has been granted, in 2016, to Syrian actor Bashar Sahyouni, living in Stjernholm – Sweden, and to his Syrian Puppets and Actors Club, for the following reason: “For his courageous initiative in order to gather, together, young refugees from Solbacka Refugee Camp, around a common artistic creation, combining puppets play and actors one, inspired by experiences of each one as refugee».
The prize amount is 3.000 €.
