The 14th class of the French Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette (ESNAM) has just been recruited by a jury of well-known artists.
This recruitment marks the return of international students. After a 2021 entrance exam restricted by the pandemic, ESNAM is delighted to welcome students from South Africa, Brazil, Italy, Switzerland and a dual Russian-Israeli nationality. The class is made up of 16 students, with an average age of 23, and backgrounds in theatre, visual arts, circus and dance.
This new class will begin its studies on 9 September 2024, and will be able to experience Temps d’M from 18 to 22 September, an inter-World Puppet Theatre Festival event that takes on a very special flavour in this year’s edition, which is entirely devoted to the ESNAM.
The 14th class will take part in an exceptional and intense three-year course. It will also be taking part in a major step forward, with the creation of a reference centre by 2025, of which ESNAM will be a major part. It will bring together the Institut International de la Marionnette and the Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes, with all the components of the puppet industry: initial and continuing training, research, heritage, creation, mediation and distribution.
