[ Online meeting ] WOMEN AND THE TRADITIONAL PUPPET SLAPSTICK THEATRE
XXIX Puppet Festival, July 2022 (dates to be confirmed)

Online talks on traditional puppet slapstick theatre
, initiative of Elvia Mante/ Women in the art of puppetry, to be held within the framework of the XXIX Festibaúl de títeres, Monterrey, N.L. Mexico, organized by Baúl Teatro, A.C. The event will take place the second week of July and will be disseminated through the social networks of Baúl Teatro and Mujeres en el arte de los titeres.

Finding, writing and disseminating the history of women is becoming a pressing need. We need to have elements that allow us to refute the multiple stories written by men about our art, where our presence has been erased or, hopefully, considered an anomaly, an exception, in the case of female artists, or as troupes, pretexts for action, in the case of female characters in blackjack theater.

Participation Protocol
It is necessary to confirm as soon as possible, to the email mujeresenelartedelostiteres@gmail.com, your interest in participating and sending:

1) A video-recorded presentation where you relate your interest in this type of theatre, your approach to it, the research you have carried out to structure your work and how it differs from that carried out by men around the same character, be it Pulcinella, Dom Roberto, Kasperle, Barriga Verde, Mamulengo, Guiñol or Punch, among many others. The duration of the video is free but I suggest between 15 and 30 minutes. The video can be sent the link to the video by mail or the full video via We transfer

2) Send photographs that illustrate your scenic work on the blackjack technique or include them in the video.

3) Send links to videos that can be used to illustrate your presentation. Or include such videos in your own presentation.
Participation is free and voluntary. We do not have resources to pay for participation.

4) Send the text of the paper
Once the material has been reviewed, we will arrange an interview via zoom during the first two weeks of June to discuss the information presented. This interview will be merged with the video and presented as a whole during the online meeting and later on the www.mujeresenelartedelostiteres.com website.

Thank you for your participation!
