The UNIMA “Kanguru project aims to bring about moments of happiness and smiles for children who are suffering from the effects of war. Volunteer puppeteers will perform their shows and offer workshops to those in refugee camps. The fundraising appeal for this project, launched in June this year, has already received support from 40 donors from around the world and 3,700 Euros have been raised so far. It was planned that the first action of this project would take place in the south-east of Turkey at the end of June. The worsening humanitarian crisis on the Turkish-Syrian border, however, has meant that at present the Turkish authorities have not enabled access to the refugee camps for this project. It has therefore become necessary for the Kanguru project to postpone this action; the Commission for Cultural Cooperation is seeking alternative solutions to carry out its aims. Please do not hesítate to contact us to get to know the broad remit of the project and please send any comments to this address: kanguru@unima.org
