The Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree PuppeTry is a 2-year course. Offering a unique chance to experience the different artistic methods and aesthetic approaches of teachers of four Central European theatre academies. The students will also spend one semester at each Academy.

The core of the program involves practical work, that provides students with hands-on experience. Allowing the students to explore all the elements and phases of a project MA Course creation. These include: selecting a theme, building a concept and dramaturgical structure, processing material, design (sound, visual and spatial), dramaturgical work with material, creating material through rehearsal, performing and working with performers, working with puppets and objects, and working with audiences.

The educational sense of PuppeTry is to give students the opportunity to search for new ways for their artistic expression, creating a “laboratory”. The program is designed to initiate the expression of students’ opinions and their identifications. It expands artists capabilities for critical thinking and ability to see the world in its different contexts. Students are encouraged to find their own artistic role through puppetry. Graduates of this programme will contribute to the global puppet theatre movement.

This course is open to applicants with a diploma qualification that corresponds to a bachelor degree in the Bologna system. In addition, an appropriate knowledge of English is required (B2).

The first semester begins in Budapest, the second in Prague, the summer course in Bratislava, the third semester in Bialystok. This system allows students to choose one of these academies to finish their diploma work with a chosen topic in the fourth semester. In addition to their practical diploma work, students have to write a theoretical thesis.
