Louise Lapointe, born 1959, has a diploma in theatre, technical production, from Ryerson Institute, Toronto, Canada (1984) and a certificate in puppet construction from the Institut International de la Marionnette, Charleville-Mézières, France (1992). She has worked at the Académie des Arts du Théâtre in Montreal (1988-2012) as a stage technician. She has contributed to some ten professional performances as scenographer, mask and puppet creator. She was the artistic leader of the international puppetry festival in Jonquière (2001-2004), and founded, in 2005, Casteliers, an organisation for the dissemination of artistic forms of puppetry. She has been a councillor for UNIMA Canada. A member of this working group since 2001, in 2016 she is the current President of UNIMA International’s International Festivals Commission.
