In sweden, Michael Meschke was honored by the king during a ceremony at the Royal Palace of Stockholm where he received the Kings Medal for meritorious services as a theatre manager. The King’s Medal was instituted around 1814, and is awarded to Swedish and foreign citizens for exceptional contributions.

Many of us know Michael Meschke, both through UNIMA as also from Marionette theatre which he founded in Stockholm, as also the 3 year experiment in the mid 70’s at the marionette theatre institute, I was lucky to be a guest student at this school for a year, a short UNIMA scholarship, which was then extended by the Swedish institute.
This stay in Stockholm changed my whole perspective as a puppeteer, from a hobby to Meher Contractor in Ahmedabad, to Michael Meschke in Stockholm and to what I do today… Congratulations to Michael well deserved…!
