Video contest – Puppets facing illegal immigration

The UNIMA Africa commission is proposing a video contest on the theme “Puppets facing illegal immigration”.
Here are the rules and the form to participate.

  1. Introduction
    Open call to all African national centers of the UNIMA.
    All puppet theatre actors are involved in this contest.
  2. Objective
    In order to reinvigorate the national centers of the UNIMA Africa and to bring the African puppeteers closer to the turn of a project each year; The Africa Commission is initiating this video contest.
  3. Theme
    African national centers and puppeteers are invited to address the theme of “illegal immigration”. This scourge that undermines society.
  4. Jury
    Three videos will be selected by an international jury, made up of artists and experts in the art of puppetry.
  5. Award for winners
    The company that will occupy the first place, in addition to the UNIMA prize, will be invited to present a show of it’s choice in one of the African festivals in partnership with the UNIMA. The prize will be presented in the presence of the Secretary general of the international UNIMA.
    The second and third will receive a diploma of participation signed by the officials of the international UNIMA.
  6. Deadline and timetable
    The deadline for sending videos is April 30th, 2019
    The winners will be announced on July 31, 2019 on the UNIMA website.Please send your videos via the form below.

Criteria

The criteria for assessment are based on originality in the artistic process, the plastic creativity, the aesthetics of the puppets, the content of the text, the simplicity and efficiency of the device, the mastery of puppet manipulation.

  • The duration of the shows must be between 5 and 10 minutes.
  • The show must be a solo or in a team of 5 people maximum.
  • The size of the video is limited to 25 MB.
  • The language of the video must be one of UNIMA’s official languages (English, French, Spanish).
  • The video must be sent no later than April 30, 2019.
