Brief history
The Hungarian Centre of UNIMA was founded in 1962. Its aim is to protect and promote national traditions as well as the new techniques of puppetry art in Hungary.
Dezsö Szilágyi served as President of the national Centre from 1962 to 2004 and also served from 1964-1989 on the international Executive Committee.
The 1996 UNIMA Congress was held in Budapest.
