Presentation

The first meeting of puppeteers was held in October 1969 in Opatija, with the desire and idea that Croatian professional theaters would show their best achievements, exchange experiences in organized discussions, but also have fun in informal gatherings.

After gatherings in various larger Croatian cities, and even occasional interruptions, the puppeteers settled permanently in Osijek in 1977 and Susret got its current name and form of biennial meetings. He has kept both to this day.

At the same time, SLUK became a competitive festival, which means that it also acquired the meaning of choosing the best in the two-year puppet production. At the beginning of the nineties, the idea of ​​holding the festival every time in one of the puppet centers came to life, so the festival began to travel again.

And the number of participants is beginning to expand: in addition to the “old” puppet theaters, new ones have also sprung up in the meantime, and guests from abroad are also invited in addition to domestic performances.
