On behalf of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Bursa Culture, Art and Tourism Foundation and with the UNIMA Turkey National Center supports we have the pleasure to inform you that the 19th Bursa International Karagöz, Puppet and Shadow Theater Festival will take place on 15-19 DECEMBER 2021 in Bursa, Turkey.

Our aim is to introduce “Shadow and Puppet Arts” from different cultures, especially Traditional Turkish Shadow Art “Karagoz” and to encourage people from different countries and cultures to come together and share their values with each other. Beside performance of theatres, the festival program also includes workshops, conversations, exhibitions and other events.

Turkish Shadow Theater “Karagoz” was accepted as “Intangible Cultural Heritage” in 2009 by UNESCO and was added to the list of Intangible Cultural Heritage. This makes our festival more significant.
This year, the festival aims to include 4 foreign and 7 domestic groups. Application deadline for groups who want to attend the festival is 19 NOVEMBER 2021.

Applications will be evaluated by the art committee and results will be notified to your side as of 22 NOVEMBER 2021 by e-mail or fax. An official acceptance letter will be sent to eligible groups.
