For more than 30 years, the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts de la Marionnette (ESNAM) has been dedicated to the training of actors-puppeteers. The school, delivering higher training for puppeteers, is unique in France. Situated at the heart of the Institut International de la Marionnette, it will become, by 2025, one of the major axes of the future Reference pole bringing together all the components of the puppetry sector: higher and continuing professional training, research, heritage, creation, mediation and distribution.

The ESNAM provides high-level initial training by way of a three-year postgraduate curriculum: DNSPC with an actor-puppeteer speciality (national professional post-graduate degree) accompanied by a Bachelor in Performing Arts.

Accessible through a competitive entrance examination, this school makes it possible to benefit from the teaching of French and foreign artists and aims for the mastery of the fundamentals of contemporary puppetry while ensuring the development of a personal artistic language. Studies are free of charge.

The school assists young ESNAM graduates in their first professional steps during the three years following graduation through various support programmes.
