The national centre of Iraq affiliated with UNIMA is concerned with spreading the culture of puppet arts in Iraq, and seeks to activate the cultural movement in this field in the areas of theatre, cinema, television and research through holding workshops, training courses and educational seminars. This includes scientific conferences, holding theatrical festivals and other specialised activities. It is also interested in supporting its members who are specialists and amateurs in this field, away from any racial, religious or political discrimination, as well as extending bridges of cooperation with the provinces inside Iraq and the active regional centres in the field of puppet arts.
