UNIMA COMMISSIONS OPEN CALLS
UNIMA Applied Puppetry Commission
Since the Chuncheon Congress, chair of the Applied Puppetry Commission Terence Tan and co-chair Antje Wegener have met former members of its predecessor, the Education, Development, and Therapy Commission, as well as interested parties for the new commission of 2025-2029. Over the two sessions, they met practitioners, researchers, and advocates of the field with the intention to understand, develop, and involve a greater range of practices and understandings of puppetry that is focused on social health, development, and well-being.
The Commission invites proposals and volunteers to support its mission. Several projects are being developed and considered, including further research and development of puppet pedagogy for persons with special needs, translating the concepts and studies of applied puppetry for more UNIMA national centres, and developing a hybrid academic course for interested members. If you are keen to support or assist with any of these projects, or if you have any other proposals or queries, you may write to appliedpuppetry@unima.org.
