PuppetOscope 2.0: A Celebration of Global Puppet Cinema and Performance
PuppetOscope is an exciting international puppet film festival organized by the Katkatha Puppet Arts Trust, a renowned Delhi-based puppet theatre group. Over the years, Katkatha has brought together talented artists from across the globe, not only for its innovative puppet theatre productions but also for fostering a learning and creative environment through masterclasses, workshops, and festivals.
After the incredible success of its inaugural edition, PuppetOscope returns for its second edition in 2025, bringing the best in global puppet cinema. This festival serves as a unique platform to explore the diverse and vibrant world of puppet filmmaking. Along with screenings of groundbreaking puppet films, the festival also celebrates the rich tradition of puppet theatre, offering performances, discussions, and workshops that promise to engage and inspire audiences of all ages.
We invite you to join us at the India International Centre, New Delhi, from April 3-5, 2025, for a one-of-a-kind experience featuring award-winning films, live performances, and much more.
Festival Highlights

Children’s films will be screened in the mornings of April 4th and 5th, from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

ALL-night performance of leather shadow puppeteers from Karnataka at Siddharth Hall, Goethe Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan, accompanied by a mela with food and puppet stalls.

There will be award-winning films, including RV Ramani’s Nee Engay, followed by a post-film discussion with Shabani Hassanwalia, and a performance by Muthulakshamana Rao, featured in the film.

Additionally, festival will showcase the award-winning Canadian film Iniskim, which has been touring film and puppet festivals worldwide, and Lotte Reiniger’s cult animation film from 1926, The Adventures of Prince Achmed.
Lastly, festival will showcase beautiful puppet fiction films from ten countries on Sunday, April 6th, from 11:30 am until evening, followed by the final performances of the students from the UNIMA Puppeteers Trust Foundation Program.
