Tacettin Diker, Turkish Karagöz Master, passed away on 31 March in İstanbul. He was one of the founders of UNIMA Turkey and one of the “Living Human Treasures” of Turkey.
He was born in 1923 in İstanbul, Turkey. He begun to be interested in Karagöz and traditional Turkish theatre from 1930. He performed his first Karagöz performance in 1948 in a garden. He was participated in many festivals and performed a lot of Karagoz performances both in Turkey and abroad. He directed Akbank Karagoz and Puppet Theatre from 1976 to 2011.
Traditional Turkish theatre has lost a lot by his death.
