Puppet Camp & Masterclass: Shank’s Mare at PESTA BONEKA #10

Papermoon Puppet Theatre (Indonesia), in collaboration with Tom Lee (USA), will hold a Masterclass and Puppet Camp as part of PESTA BONEKA #10 — an international biennale puppet festival taking place October 7–11, 2026 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Puppeteers, dancers, performers, and theater makers are invited to collaborate and train in Japanese puppetry techniques (kuruma ningyō-style), and join the performance of Shank’s Mare at PESTA BONEKA #10. Participants will take part in a puppet camp, rehearsal process, and culminating performance alongside US and Japanese artists.

Limited to 8 participants.

Facilitation

· Accommodation from September 24 – October 12, 2026 (with possible shared room arrangement to another participant by and with confirmation from festival’s team)

·  Meals 3 times per day

·  Experience Japanese puppet traditions and the contemporary puppetry rehearsal and devising process of     Shank’s Mare (created by Tom Lee USA and Koryū Nishikawa V Japan)

·  Perform with US and Japanese artists in Shank’s Mare at PESTA BONEKA #10

·  ARTIST PASS, All access to join PESTA BONEKA #10 Program.

·  VISA will be covered by PESTA BONEKA

A participation fee applies. PESTA BONEKA can provide a letter of invitation to support participants in applying for funding or grants.
