Death of Peter W. Loosli (29/10/19 - 09/12/11)

Peter W. Loosli started his life for the theatre as a professionally trained actor at the Schauspielhaus in Zurich. After having worked extensively in the theatre, for radio broadcasts, in films and on television, he got interested in puppets.
In 1948, he founded the "Looslis Puppentheater", together with his wife Trudi, and for over 50 years, their company captivated a public of children and adults. With the show of “The Little Prince” by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Peter W. Loosli in a certain way transformed the traditional way of performing puppets in Switzerland by getting on stage in person and using different techniques: string puppets, masks, visible as manipulator and narrator.
This show has been performed over five thousand times in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Russia. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is therefore the French author whose work is shown most in all German-speaking countries and for this reason, Peter W. Loosli was awarded the medal of "Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres" by the French Minister of Culture in 1996.

Recall for Unima Travel Fund
Dear Unima centres and friends,
As you all know, UNIMA will celebrate its World Congress in Chengdu, China, in May 2012.

A Travel Fund has been established for elected councillors who do not have the financial means to attend the official meetings (Congress, Council and Executive Committee meeting).

A first call was done in May 2011 and we would like to thank those few people and National Centres that donated money, yet.
During the Festival of Charleville-Mézières, we collected some money by selling special buttons. All incomes were fully remitted to a special account.

But, this still is not sufficient. If we want to assure that the people attending the Congress, the Council or the Executive Committee meeting will well represent the diversity of our organisation and its ideal of democracy, we need to make a bigger effort. Each donation (small or large) will be welcome.
We invite you to read again the letter written by the Unima Finance Commission about the Travel Fund and to give it the best diffusion among your members, your friends. May this letter remind you of the importance to enable councillors from all regions of the world to contribute to Unima meetings.

Applicants asking for a grant should fill in the form and send it to the General Secretary, not later than 6 months before the meeting. (For the Congress in Chengdu this means November 2011!).
