Hands On 2 !
Call for papers, workshops, performances, demonstrations and other interventions

Little Angel Theatre and CROPP* (Centre for Research into Objects and Puppets in Performance) present:
Hands On 2 !
Friday & Saturday, 19 - 20 of April 2013
Central School of Speech & Drama, Eton Avenue, London NW3 3HY and Little Angel Theatre, 14 Dagmar Passage, London, N1 2DN.
A two-day conference and training event on Applied Puppetry

.

After the great success of the Hands on Symposium in 2011, it’s time to get together again and explore the world of puppetry in community and educational settings. This collaboration between CROPP (Centre for Research into Objects and Puppets in Performance) at Central and the Education & Participation Department at the Little Angel is a development following great demand from the previous symposium in 2011. The two-day event will be a vibrant mix of workshops, performances and discussions.
Practices and approaches within applied puppetry are growing both nationally and globally with increased awareness of the power of puppetry in applied settings. This event will provide a window into innovative research and practice within ‘Puppetry with a Purpose’ and offer a platform for discussion, networking and showcasing. The first day will be an opportunity to hear about and debate good practice and new approaches in multiple areas of applied puppetry with diverse groups; the second day will have a more in-depth training focus on puppetry with young people, in health care settings and in development contexts.

.

Call for Proposals
We invite proposals for papers, workshops, demonstrations, performances, films and interventions which address some of the following questions:
What can puppetry bring to applied theatre ?
What are the training needs for applied puppetry ?
Is the art form important ? Is the puppet in applied puppetry important, or is it just another art form which can engage with groups ?
Workshop or performance: process and product ?
What are the global issues for applied puppetry ?

Hands On 2! is both for people who are curious about using puppetry in community and education settings, and professionals already established in the field e.g. teachers and health service providers; puppetry practitioners and educators; academics interested in applied puppetry.
Proposals should be no more than 250 words, and accompanied by a 100-word biography and contact information. Please only send links to images and video as the files clog up our inbox !

.

Deadline for proposals extended to: 31st January 2013.
Please send your proposals to: slavka@littleangeltheatre.com

New Puppet Library in Greece
We are happy and proud to announce that UNIMA-HELLAS, the Greek Centre of UNIMA, is opening its Puppet Library on the 2nd of December 2012.
The library is located in the hall of Michalis Cacoyannis Foundation (http://www.mcf.gr), Peiraios 206, Athens - Greece which kindly hosts the UNIMA office and various activities as well.
The library will be open to the public twice a week and the visitors will be able to read or borrow the books, magazines and videos included in our catalogues.
The whole project is materialized by the puppeteers-members of UNIMA and it is of great importance for the evolution of puppetry arts in Greece since the native bibliography is still rather poor !
We ask the international family of puppetry colleagues, friends, UNIMA Centers and other institutions to help us any way they can in our effort to gather more material.
Any kind of books, magazines, DVDs, CD-ROMs or other visual or printed relative item will be highly appreciated.
If you have something to share with us, please contact Stathis Markopoulos by email at: ayusayapup@gmail.com or send it directly by mail to our post address:
